Why Make Technique Improvements?
We all want to be able to run faster, in this page we try to explain ways in which you can do so by making changes to your running technique - this is about getting faster without having to improve your fitness, although it will take some regular practice and concentration to get a proper running technique.
Self Myofascial Release (SMR) What is it? What are the benefits?
Otherwise referred to as foam rolling, this technique is simple and very effective.
The body is continually put through many stresses through day to day life in which your muscles work constantly to help absorb this strain. However, there is only so much your muscles can put up with before fatigue starts to effect performance. Waste products (such as lactic acid) build up causing the length of muscles to shorten and cramp in severe cases, resulting in stiffness and decreased range of movement, plus the feeling of discomfort otherwise know as Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS).
Healing Crisis in Massage - What is it?
This can be described as the healing process or the “Herxheimer Reaction”. To simplfy this, it is the detoxification of the body at a faster rate than the body can actually dispose the wastage. There is an increase in symptoms during the cleansing period, so the more toxins that there are present in the body systems, the more severe the healing crisis. The concern is that you may feel worse after a treatment, therefore the conclusion would seem that the cleansing is not working. But, really these reactions are very normal, and this is the indication that the body is functioning appropriately to eliminate impurities within itself.
Why should I train first thing in the morning?
Are

Billat interval training - focusing on vVO2 max
Dr. Veronique Billat, a professor of Sport Sciences at the University of Lille in France, has researched various interval training methodologies to optimise VO2max training. She has produced some simple protocols and demonstrated improvements of three to six percent in elite athletes with only four weeks of training. While three to six percent may not seem like a lot to you, for an elite this represents a huge improvement. And if an elite rider can improve that much, what about the rest of us? "Carrying out excellent training is not hard to do," says Billat. "You simply have to have reliable reference points around which to structure your workouts."
